I really enjoyed this book! Paige was about to marry Brent, a man she didn’t love. She was hoping she would fall in love afterwards. He was good at the family business, and they had a lot in common. She saw how happy her dad was when he found out they were engaged. Her wedding became a bloodbath. Her fiancé got shot. The bad guys wanted a bead. Brent said she had it. Jake was hired to protect her, and the bead. They had to work together to figure out what it was, and where it was. Jake and Paige shared some tender moments. Paige is the type person that likes to see how things add up on paper. On paper, she and Brent should have been perfect for each other. She is thrown off, when her heart starts to beat faster when Jake is around. On paper, they should be totally wrong for one another, so why is her body reacting to Jake’s presence? This book had action, and romance. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. One of my favorite lines in the book:Sometimes Life’s greatest happiness is found in unexpected places. Sample from Chapter one:Her wedding had become a bloodbath. Brent had been shot. And her groom’s high school friend, a man she’d met only four days ago, had bodily carried her out of harm’s way like some tuxedoed superhero.Sample from chapter 4Three men clad in dark clothes and wielding large guns burst into the office. Jake dropped and rolled back under the desk with her as a spray of bullets pelted the wall behind her. She swallowed her scream, too terrified to muster the breath needed. Sample from Chapter 12The man you marry should be someone who loves you. You deserve that, Paige. You deserve love and devotion and all that happily-ever-after stuff. The house with the picket fence. Another pause. “And respect. And friendship. And, yeah…passion. Not just in sex, but…for life. You say you and Brent were the same, but sometimes same equals boring. As smart as you are, you should have someone who challenges you, someone you can fight with, and someone who’ll keep you on your toes and make your life interesting.”

I decided to pick up this book because I was looking for some action and if you know me, you know I love romance. So it seemed like a perfect combo. Within the first few pages, the action started, which was a plus for me as I have a very short attention span. So after Paige’s wedding got fucked up (Excuse my language, I couldn’t think of a better word). She and Jake, the bodyguard, take off. While they’re running from the terrorists the two start to fall in love. I thought it was believable enough. But on point, the story was good and I thought the author did a good job with it. Also she’s from Louisiana and I think she might be from around my area and that simple fact made me way too excited. So go, Louisiana!

More coming soon, but I liked the other book by her. This one I had too many WTF moments. I didn't like the heroine she was TSTL!
