Warning - this is a novella and ends on a teasing cliffhanger. I did receive the book for free but was not warned about either situation. However, the book was very good. Ms Belle has an unique talent with words and making you feel what the characters are feeling. I recommend this book, as long as you can get the next release.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.California is going to be graduated in Psychology to be able to help her mother.London is learning all he can about how to run a bank to be able to take over his father’s bank. He hates his job but he has no other option.I like how the author introduces us to this series. I really feel intrigued and want to know what happens between these two people.

I received a complimentary copy and offered my review. This novella was my first read from Melissa Belle. It was a short prequel to her full length novel Finding Joy Street. An appetizer really. Just to get a taste of her characters, get a glimpse in their lives. I can say Ms Belle piqued my interest with this short story. I think her characters worth my time reading what they have to tell. From this short novella one thing became perfectly clear: California has had a tough life and always had to be strong for everyone around her. There are plenty to think about. I am curious of what their future will bring.

WOW, what a teaser! This story captured my attention hard and fast. I felt for both characters and the sorrows and challenges in their personal lives. I can’t wait to read the succeeding novel, and I am hoping they hook up. I expect it to be hot and steamy based on this prequel.I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I was given this book as an ARC from the author. I voluntarily decided to leave a review. This is my honest review.I didn't know what to expect to read in this book and was dragged in from the first page, it's got such a different story than I've read before and I found it very refreshing I loved the style of writing and didn't put it down from when I started it, by the time I'd finished it was nearly one in the morning! The characters were very complex but you could relate to them and how they felt, you could emphasise with how they tried to remain unnoticed rather than join in. The 2 main characters couldn't have been more opposite but they were both so very similar in how they felt lonely even in a room full of people that they knew. Both struggled with their feelings and their close family. I can't wait to read the next book this one has left me chomping at the bit wanting more. You find out everything you need to leaving you wondering will they won't they but in a good way, you want them both to find someone special, California Blue has the weight of the world on her shoulders as does London both from opposite ends of the financial scale with totally different problems but problems brought on by their parents actions.I'd definitely recommend this book it's brilliant and a refreshing way of looking at romance.

Okay, so I'm not a fan of short Novellas, I really prefer the full length novel. It just breaks things up too much, plus it feels like the reader is getting ripped off paying for less than 100 pages of a story that can easily be incorporated into the full length story. But, having said that, this novella gives you a good taste of what could be a really good story in Finding Joy Street. London and California (love the unusual names!) have a haphazard meeting in three different situations, the last being what leaves you hanging in the end to Segway into Finding Joy Street. I did enjoy the tidbit that was thrown at us in this short story, and will definitely read the next installment, especially when I saw that it was 400 pages! Looking forward to seeing how these two work out given their very challenging pasts and upbringing. To be continued!I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This short novella tied me up from the beginning 'til the end.London has been burned by love before and therefore has no desire to expose himself like that again.California renounces to the love, before she has it found outonce. This for reasons of which lie in her past ( her growing up). However, the destiny brings them together in long distancesover and over again, without they one day become acquited really.I love the writing style of Melissa Belle, it's more than well writtenand her characters are complex.I enjoyed reading this book and I'm really looking forward to thenext book in this series. Hopefully California and London will findtheir way to a HEA.I recommend this book and the author Melissa Belle.I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is a short story about California Blue, who's a Harvard student in Boston & has sworn off men and London Shaw, who's a banker from Manhattan who only hooks up with women for one reason. That's until California runs into him at the hospital where both of them have family emergencies to attend to at the hospital. There's an instant spark between them & it only intensifies when they meet again at a masquerade ball. Will California change her vision of men & will London change his outlook on women? Although i'm not a fan of books with cliffhangers, this was a nice short story & my first by Melissa Belle.

I received and voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.California or Cali is studying hard to be a psychologist as both her parents have mental health issues. She feels the need to help others but at what cost to herself.London is currently away from home learning the banking business ready to take over as CEO of his families bank when his dad is unable to anymore. Both receive bad new and rush to the hospital and literally run into each other..... Does anything happen or do they just feel a pull towards each other? This is the first book by Melissa Belle and I'm looking forward to reading the first full book in the series.

This is the first book I've read Melissa Belle. I really like her writing style style and look forward to reading more from her. This is a short prequel to introduce you to California and London. It's a good beginning filled with angst and emotional sadness. I suggest reading it before you read Finding Joy Street so you understand where these two characters are coming from. I can't wait to read the rest of their story...I'm routing for these to on their journey to a HEA. Don't miss this one!*I volunteered to leave a review for an ARC copy of Underneath the Mask.*

I was immediately drawn into the story, enthralled by the characters and impressed by the way Ms Belle tells a story. It was sad, sweet, sexy, erotic and impossible to put down. Because it was a novella, I read it in one sitting, disappointed when it ended. The characters, Cali and London were realistic with real heartbreaking back stories. This is the preview about how they met, and if this short piece is any indication, I am absolutely looking forward to reading the other books in the series. I can't wait to see if they heal each other or destroy themselves.

Underneath the Mask by Melissa Belle **** An awesome prequel that grabs youCalifornia & London met 3 times in this prequel, without ever "meeting". There was an attraction each time, without an awareness of having met before. This story sets up their individual backgrounds, which has caused both to feel isolated and alone, and numb. They need each other -- so their story "Finding Joy Street" will be a ride. Looking forward to it! Disclosure: I received an advance reader copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.

Kismet...sweet prequelI enjoyed the flow of this novella, it had me curious about when London Shaw and California Blue would finally meet. After Cali gets a tarot card reading, I’m convinced there is something behind the electrifying sizzle to London and Cali’s brief encounters. Their paths finally cross nine months later, and I am so ready to find out more for this couple. Ms. Belle has me hooked so far and I’m looking forward to reading their story in Finding Joy Street.I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This prequel novella introduces us to London and California, who's story is "Finding Joy Street". Fate seems to keep throwing these two together, though they don't know it :) An enjoyable short read that gives us insight into the H&h history. The story was interesting, the characters had decent development for a prequel and the reader is left ready to read the full novel. Overall, a nice read.*I volunteered to leave an honest review of this ARC*
