Imagine if you will, you’re the female protagonist of this story, Journey Rivera and you’ve just found the guy of your dreams, a blue-eyed Adonis, Foster Brady. But there’s only one major problem standing in the way of you’re getting the HEA you desire. What would say if I told you that it’s you being the mistress of a psychopathic police detective, Mick, who just happens to be this guy’s father.Mick is a possessive type of individual who’s willing to threaten anyone who dares to touch you. And when things begin to heat between you and Foster, Micki becomes increasingly suspicious of what’s going on. You already know what he’s capable to doing to another guy, but now he’s threatening to kill you if he finds out you’re ever cheating on him. Will Foster have the courage to kill his own father if the need arises to save Journey’s life? Could his father, a police detective, ever be found guilty of any foul play? I’m not going to say/While the storyline is quite captivating and wonderfully balanced with the right mixture of being sweet, poignant and steamy, it is also quite violent in nature with extremely graphic scenes which should be avoided if you happen to be somewhat squeamish regarding reading things like this. This book is a stand-alone prequel to the Club series of books being written by Karen M. Bryson, and if this is any indication of what the rest of the series might be like, its readers are probably in for hot reading ahead. And as far as this particular volume is concerned I’ve given it 5 STARS.

Will read more from this Indie authorI found myself cheering for Journey from the start, knowing there would be lots of sadness in her story. Bryson doesn't pull any punches, the reader knows from the first chapter that things are going downhill quickly. There could be triggers in this book for some. There was no holding back in that the author shares the full detail of every character no matter how awful a human. Each character had a clear voice and the dialogue reinforced each personality. The ray of sunshine in Foster was a welcome balance from how cold and miserable the lives were of most of the other characters. A fast read I couldn't put down, well written.

Behind Blue Eyes by Karen M. Bryson.I give this book 5 stars. This is the prequel to The Club series. I'm so glad the author went back to the beginning so we can find out how The Club started. It wasn't what I was expecting. I thought there would be more about The Club owner. This story was captivating and intriguing and very dramatic. I absolutely loved it. I'm really sad that the series is over. I could read these for the rest of my life.

This book was very engaging, the writing style was so descriptive and absorbing. I NEEDED to find out what was going to happen. I think that's what a good writer does - makes you feel so deeply for the characters that it will just keep you turning pages until you have devoured the entire book. I know I did.

Received this book for an honest review. I found that right from the beginning I was rooting for Journey and her story. I was able to figure out early on the relationship between Foster and Mick, but kept devouring the book to find out how it would end.

Wow, what a story! I went into this book completely blind. I have read other works by this author and know how versatile her writing and story telling can be. This book surprised me a bit with it's dark content. I was warned it was a bit dark but I haven't read anything dark by this author so wasn't sure what to expect. Well, she can definitely do a bit dark, and do it well. This story centers on two main characters, Journey and Foster. Journey is a young woman pretty much down on her luck. She happens upon a way to help her desperate situation but is it really helping her out or digging her into more trouble? Throw in a friend with less than upstanding morals also "helping" and it is a recipe for disaster. Unsuspecting Foster is drug into the mess and it manages to hit even closer to home than he could have imagined. Can the two manage to get out of the terrible circumstances they find themselves in?This story sets up the Club series (which I have thus far not read). I do not know for sure if the same themes carry on throughout the series. In this book, there is violence, sex (not always consented), cheating, and illegal activities to be aware of if these are hot button issues for you. This is a well written and very good story though so I would recommend giving it a try.
