At first I wasn't sure I liked this book but the more I read, the more I liked it. I cried at the end and that is always a good sign that it will be a book remembered. Recommended!

Really good read; read in one day. He grows on you as you go along. Highly recommended. Although it's rated as "light reading," there's a lot more to it than meets the eye.

I found this book to have a depth to it that made me want to read the whole book immediately. My Book Club has chosen this book for our discussion this month, and I want to use some of the trivia questions to spark some discussion. In my time, I have known a few Oves. I applaud those characters who were able to show love in his life-the cat, the neighbors, his wife.

I loved Ove....a man of few words, who thought what you did was much more important than what you said. The book has a very childlike quality to it..somehow feels more like a fairy tale than a novel, but nevertheless I did enjoy it.

This was so wonderful to read. I just loved Ove in all of his crabby ways. He is a treasure. I had expected the ending, sort of, but I liked the way the author kind of left it up to you to decide the causse of the outcome. Ove is so "b____y" that he becomes absolutely so easy to love. His reactions are so sarcastic yet understated, but the love he had for his cherished wife is so beautiful and refreshing to read in this day and age. We meet so many characters who also have their faults and problems, but neighborly tolerance shows their worthiness. It also says something about our values, or lack thereof, regarding aging and the aged. Lastly, this Swedish author is wonderful, and I hope to read him again.

This novel about a recent widower is set in Sweden. Ove is set in his ways, anti social and irritable. He just wants to die so he can be laid to rest next to his beloved wife. Unfortunately he must deal with a stray cat that shows up at his door and an out going young family that move in next door...Enjoyable read...
