5 Hard Male POV Stars!*ARC generously provided per publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for honest review*From my star rating you can guess that for me, there is nothing better than the MALE POV. I love reading the contrast of dominant behavior with vulnerable feels, the struggle with the insecurities of life and mostly the war of the heart and the mind when faced with wanting a woman. I was beyond thrilled that K. Bromberg's new read provided me with the fabulous Tanner Thomas, and his conflicting emotions swirling around his heart while set deep in a land of foreign strife!Hard Beat is a stunning read that is both sexually charged and dramatically tense. Fans of Driven have come to expect high drama and scorching heat. Now, Bromberg takes it a step further and adds in the element of suspense to the romance! Journalist Tanner Thomas has always chased the "buzz." He is know for getting the story in the harshest of elements. His time abroad has not been without loss and the most recent his in his profession has also rocked his heart. What better way to move on than to find the rush, the chase, the unknown, to focus his time. Again in a world of danger, he is unprepared to "get the story" with a new partner/photog. BJ/Beaux Crosley was not what he had in mind as there is no way he can focus around this sassy, sexy enigma especially when her brass tactics rub him so wrong, but so good!BJ and Tanner have the same combustible attraction that only Bromberg can deliver. With life and death a constant, the danger of the environment heightens the tension and strengthens their bond. There is definite attraction and carnal need as BJ and Tanner also battle the elements of trust and respect. It does not take long for the battle to explode and for them to find more than just a release. But even with the more, something seems amiss. Can love really develop in such a furious environment? How can Tanner be sure of what he is really feeling? What is Beaux holding back? This read was simply amazing! It was more than a scorching romance. As the tale of suspense and danger escalated, the emotional development that finds Tanner makes the heart beat. I loved the struggle with "falling into a romance" while rationalizing if it could even be real. Everything is fast and escalated due to the environment but it is Tanner's thought that make the romance real. For a man who typically falls fast and drops the ILYs...finding a reason to finally "hesitate" is amazing. Saying ILY is just too want to say MORE...not having the opportunity...ugh, totally gut-wrenching. Be prepared to have your breath have your pulse have your heart crushed.Hard Beat is another one of Bromberg's gems and many will come to love Tanner as much as his beloved sister Rylee. If you are looking for a steamy romantic suspense, this will not only keep you rapt, but it will definitely keep you warm in all the right ways!

5 StarsShe's my little piece of Heaven in the land full of Hell. It's been quite a while since I read an all male POV that was this engrossing. Hard Beat was simply unputdownable from beginning to end. It was everything I love, and I really do mean everything. It managed to tick all my boxes.A reedemable asshole hero.Guilt is a goddamn vise squeezing out of me every ounce of emotion I never wanted to feel. You may remember Tanner as Rylee Thomas's older brother. Well now it's his turn for a HEA and it's going to be one bumpy road. Tanner is a famous foreign war correspondent. Now back to doing what he does best after a tragic loss that absolutely gutted him, he's interested in one thing and one thing only; his career. No woman, especially not some newbie photographer that's still green behind her ears will deter him from that. So when a dark haired beauty approaches him at a bar, he rejects her. But her appeal is just too much for him to fight, so when her flirtation turns into sarcastic insults after his treatment, a few heated words turn into something much hotterYou're arrogant and-""You don't have to like me to fuck me," I say, cutting her off. "You just have to want me.""Fuck you!"I chuckle against her lips before pulling back and looking straight into her desire-laden eyes. "That's the plan.".... until he figures out that she's his new photographer.I think that had this been written in dual POV the effect would have been lost. I absolutely LOVED being in Tanner's head. You get to experience every single emotion right along with him. So even when he's being a downright asshole, your heart still breaks for him because you know what's behind every word. She wants to be a bitch? Well, I can be a grade A asshole. She has no idea who she's messing with. We already started this relationship with a bang, so why not keep it going that way, right?Utterly delicious hate to love tropeThe relationship development here was phenomenal. The rocky start, the hate lust, all of which leads to inevitable feelings. But man oh man was it done well. I couldn't get enough of Tanner and Beaux. These two seriously burn up the pages together. So much so that the tension between them sizzle and crackles so much it practically vibrates your finger with every turn of the page. Ugh. It was perfection.A sassy and sharp witted heroine that gives as good as she getsBeaux Croslyn is a mystery for a large portion of the book, but in that lies her appeal. You're figuring out the puzzle that is her right along side Tanner. But what you do know, is this is a woman that doesn't give in easily. For every asshole remark Tanner has, she gives it right back. She's no pushover and she sure has a smart mouth on her.Like I said, fuck off.""It seems to me your mouth needs to be washed out with soap. Not real classy for a lady to keep repeating words like that.""Oh, I'm a whole lot of classy. I just reserve all my fucks for assholes like you who deserve them."I simply couldn't envision a better match for Tanner. An unputdownable story filled with twists and turnsWhile the romance is emotional, erotic and oh so satisfying, what truly made this a 5 star read for me was the plot that tied it all together. It was fantastic! Then that last 30% happened and I was completely blown away. The twists and turns I never saw coming kept me riveted to the pages. I couldn't put it down until I finished. There's not a single part about this book that I didn't love. Quick paced, filled with action and even a little suspense, erotic, and emotionally charged made this the absolute perfect read. A must read!ARC courtesy of publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest reviewFind me on:

Hard Beat, by the incredible K. Bromberg, is a sizzling, suspenseful, serious, and oh-so-sweet sensory-spinning ride of a romance that hugs your heart, burns your body, and shatters your soul. Deeper and darker than the other Driven novels, this book shakes, breaks, and steals your heart. Hard Beat renders an unwavering electric surge of excitement during the whole reading experience like the anticipated first kiss, a thrilling roller coaster ride, or wedding day jitters. Like its title, a hard beat is what your heart is pumping and feeling---full of adrenaline, adoration, and amazement---while being held captive by this enthralling and emotional story. Hard Beat sends you wading into an ocean of feels, trying to reel in your emotions this story steals from you on this riveting reading adventure. K. Bromberg shook up the series with Hard Beat, a book that is so different from the other Driven books, and I was unsure how I felt at first. However, several chapters into this story, I forgot about the disparities when Hard Beat took over me---haunting my head, holding on to my heart, and delving deep into my soul. Hard Beat’s powerful plot could be a box office hit: suspenseful, sexy, sorrowful, thrilling, tantalizing, and terrific. The writing is achingly addictive where you eat up every word with a hunger that one feels with K. Bromberg’s brilliant and beautiful books. Brought to life with a picture painted so vividly, you feel like a creeper watching the characters, as they are charismatic and compelling with a chemistry that is electric.Tanner Thomas, ‘T Squared,’ is hot with messy brown hair, violet eyes, and a tall and delicious body made for sin. Intense and intelligent, Tanner rocks the brains to match the braun. Arrogant to the tee, Tanner is a ‘Grade A’ ass mostly from a terrible tragedy. A ghost from his past haunts him, a constant reminder of the risks he takes and the dangers that lurk around him as a worldwide renowned journalist. An adrenaline-loving junkie, Tanner is looking for his next rush---a risky assignment---the next head-enticing, heart-thumping hard beat. While stationed at his new assignment overseas, he meets a sexy siren, BJ, at a bar one night where the chemistry is so powerful it nearly combusts around them. They cannot decide if they want to punch or pounce on each other with the lust-hate fest they instantly ignite.“I don’t want to feel that grenade of desire sitting low in my belly…but goddamn her small display of independence turns me on something fierce. I brand my mouth to hers, press my tongue between her lips as she parts them. Her hands push me away, but the movement of her tongue tells me she wants more.”A one-night stand with BJ may be the temporary fix to ease the painful past that engulfs Tanner. Tanner and BJ’s encounter in the sheets is explosive with the tantalizing tango of verbal assaults as they assault each other’s bodies. K. Bromberg delivers the heat from head to toe in her usual witty and wanton-inducing words:“I have a lot of wants, so right now I’m going to take the one thing I need. You think you can handle me?”“How do you like it, Beaux? Do you like when I slide my fingers right here, rub a little harder…faster…or do you like when I bury my fingers in your pussy and stroke right here?”“Squeak all you want, because I have no problem oiling you up.”Holy shocker when Tanner discovers the next day that the saucy and sexy siren who steamed up his sheets the night before, ‘BJ,’ is his new photographer and partner, Beaux Croslyn. From lovers to workers, from super sexy and casual to professional, the chemistry burns while Tanner and Beaux try to remain all business without killing each other. The beautiful and brash Beaux stirs up emotions and a deep desire he thought were buried forever.Push and pull…hurls and heat. The cat-and-mouse game they play, volleying insults back and forth like a swinging pendulum is entertaining and exciting. There is nothing more stimulating and spicy than an enemies-to-lovers story. The biggest risk to Tanner is not his death-defying assignments in the mix of war, but in Beaux who is penetrating the walls he erected around his heart. As if through her camera lens, Beaux captures Tanner perfectly, and sees through his barriers and bulls**t. Beaux sees the real him. “It scares me that she can see through things so well, because that means she’s probably seeing everything I’m trying to hide.”However, to Tanner, Beaux is an enigma. He can’t break through her stockade of secrecy. In a harsh war-torn world, Beaux and Tanner are each other’s sunlight in the darkness. Tanner doesn’t want to want Beaux. However, if there is any hope for a future with the woman who is quickly penetrating his heart, he has to break the chains of the past to embrace the present and hope for the future. Beaux has to let Tanner into her heart and her past, sharing more than her bed with him. “My anger collides with my insecurity and makes me realize just why I’m so upset. No one likes to be made to feel like a fool, and right now it’s exactly how I feel.”Near-death devastation, a dark and perhaps deadly déjà vous, tragedy, and a tornado of a twist hit so hard that Tanner and Beaux may lose the bits of trust they have built, and the bond they share. Everything is on the verge of crumbling into ruins, including their future. “A false hope is the worst kind of all.”Hard Beat spins your emotions around like a hurricane: anger, happiness, sadness, frustration, and most of all, hope. Hope for that much fought for happily ever after the hell that this couple has endured. This story and series are not just books but emotional and enlightening experiences that make you feel. Feel for the characters as if they are sitting with you telling the story. Feel every emotion that they experience. With each devastatingly beautiful and brilliant Driven series book that K. Bromberg creates, there is a perpetual and powerful pattern, a meaningful message: Live life to the fullest. Take a chance...a risk. Make every moment matter. This book and all of K. Bromberg's other masterpieces matter.Five heart-beating stars ***ARC received for an honest review from Bookalicious Babes Blog***

I received an arc for an honest review by the author.First and foremost, I absolutely LOVE K.Bromberg! All of her books are amazing & keep you on the edge. This book will grip you in ways you don't see coming! Which is exactly what we like to read, right? I did struggle at first, getting my mind set into the background of foreign territory landscapes & imagining the environment of the story, HOWEVER, it did not deter me from recognizing an amazing story! You won't see the twists & turns coming as they approach! You'll get to it and just be like WHAT THE HECK JUST HAPPENED? I love when hat happens & Kristy has always been able to do that with her words. This story is told from Tanner's POV, no alternating. Beaux is a great female lead and you will instantly love the wit between the two characters! Tanner is sexy & domineering & protective (swoon), he knows how to get the story he wants & will stop at nothing to get the piece ;) wink wink.5 stars from this Redhead Reading :)

Another masterpiece delivered by talented author K. Bromberg. I absolutely loved this book! Hard Beat sucked me in from page one, and kept me on the edge for the last 30% of the book. K. Bromberg is one of my all-time favorite authors. She is a master storyteller who takes you inside her inspirational stories and won't let you go. I love her books so much and they always hit the spot! This author’s characters are so consistent, so true to their personalities.I loved Tanner and Beaux and the two of them together were amazing. I absolutely ADORED Tanner and since it was told from his POV, I fell even harder. This book has it all, heartache, hurt, passion, secrets, happy and sad moments, friendship, rock solid connection, crazy twists and turns, steamy sex scenes, beautiful love story and action. The writing is flawless and intense and the story is just so captivating. There is a twist that had me gasping and I just wanted to jump inside my kindle and smack BJ. This is a feel good story, all the way. An absolute MUST read.

An undeniable connection turns into an undeniable love. A stunning romance filled with passion, heart, and so much emotion. K. Bromberg branches out and gives her readers something different, but NO less special! Whatever genre she chooses, she kills it, 100% of the time! Bromberg is a definite auto-click author for me. She writes...I read! Simple as that! Another amazing read by a truly talented storyteller. Can I just tell you how much I crave a good male POV in a romance? Can I also tell you that K. Bromberg is a KILLER at it? I think it just brings another level to the story, and we, us females, don't have to ponder about what the hero is really thinking. It takes out all the guess-work and makes it incredibly more enjoyable. And are you ready for one hell of a plot twist? HA! I knew you would be! You will not see it coming and yet you will tell yourself I KNEW IT! I literally had to put my iPad down and close my eyes for a minute. I had to gather myself to continue. Tons of these emotions came over me and I didn't know what to do with myself. It was brilliant! I expect nothing less from an author as talented as K. Bromberg.I laughed. I cried. I screamed. I shouted to whoever would hear me. I felt like I was getting punched in the face with blow after blow after blow of adrenaline pumping events. My heart went pitter-patter. I swooned all over the place. I re-read so many lines because I loved it all so freaking hard. I didn't think my heart could take it. K. Bromberg made us work for Tanner and Beaux's happily ever after. It's not simple. It's complex. It's raw. It's ridiculously sexy. It's magic. Pure magic. I felt a buzz throughout the entire book. I never wanted it to end, but I wanted that damn happily ever after! Don't worry, we get one, but it's not your normal run-of-the-mill contemporary romance. It's difficult. Even though your heart will feel like it went through a meat grinder, have no fear, the author mends it back up so beautifully, so thoroughly, you will think that it was all worth it in the end.*Gifted copy provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

3.5 stars! Not bad. I actually enjoyed this very much. My only issue is desperately wanted to connect to Beaux and I couldn't. I wish K. Bromberg has given us her POV. I feel like the only reason why she didn't have a POV was to protect the plot twist. Again, if you like surprises, this would be perfect for you. I'm the type of reader who enjoys knowing the "secret" while the characters have no clue or no idea about it. I like the tension more and it makes me feel invested in the one keeping the secret. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the writing and the chemistry between Beaux and Tanner. The setting was also interesting. In fact, the characters' jobs were fascinating to me. I'm glad K. Bromberg wrote that into the narrative very well. Overall, this was good. It just lacked that extra omph that I was looking for. ARC provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

"Remember, sometimes what's right isn't always what's needed. Sometimes what's needed isn't always what's wanted. And sometimes you just have to live in the moment, take what's given, and sort out the consequences later."Hard Beat is book 7 of the Driven Series. K. Bromberg offers a steamy story set in the treacherous world of war. Hard Beat is a beautiful and raw story of a man getting a second chance at love and life!Tanner has always been a take no prisoner's street smart reporter. He is willing to go the distance to get a story. He is strong, confident, and cocky! When his best friend and partner Stella is killed on the job, Tanner has to find his way back. He is tortured by her memory and feels in his heart he will never find peace in his work again. The only way to chase his demons is to get back on the job. Despite his fears, he makes his way back to the shadows of the war torn world where he can find the next best story and regain his semblance of life."Guess it's time for this pawn to move past its zone of protection and face the queen."-TannerUpon his return, it doesn't take Tanner long to recognize a new face in the press crowd. The sultry and sassy photographer Beaux is new to the scene. Instantly, Tanner's body recognizes her as a temptation from the moment their eyes meet! The connection is fierce and smoking hot. After a one night stand, Tanner makes the realization that Beaux is not only the newest "hot piece" on the scene but in fact, she is his new partner. The realization cuts Tanner deep in his soul as he must come to terms with this new arrangement. Not only does he have a replacement for Stella but he has strong feelings for her that neither can deny."See something you want, Pulitzer?"-BeauxAs Tanner and Beaux navigate through their new working relationship, the sexual tension continues to rise. Both are headstrong individuals and the dialogue of give and take between the two would put any presidential debate to shame! The constant "advance/retreat" between them is a like a seductive tango full of twists and turns. Even with the stressful work conditions and the internal demons they both are facing, they manage to form a friendship that quickly progresses into so much more. And yet, things aren't always as they seem. Beaux has many secrets and the harder Tanner tries to push her to reveal them the harder she pushes him away. "The sound of her coming undone is enough to make every part of me ache like a man on fire walking knowingly into the flame."-TannerTold in Tanner's POV, Hard Beat is a must read for Driven Fans! The plot is unique and well developed with plenty of action, steamy sex, and tenderness. Tanner and Beaux are both well developed characters. The tempo is well paced and the heart of the story is one that I will never forget! It has taken me a few days for the story to really sink in and settle. This is a story with a complex plot and you don't want to miss any of the pieces as they come together! In true Bromberg fashion, we get a glimpse of some of our favorite characters from other books in the series. The continuity of being back with old characters is like coming home!"If you don't like the ending, change it."Overall, Hard Beat was a fantastic read! I am never disappointed when I pick up a K. Bromberg book. She pours an abundance of love into her characters and it spills out on the pages as each scene unfolds. I will never get tired of reading her work! Hard Beat is a true delight! ***The Driven Series***~Purchased on Amazon and for Blog Tour Review Post.~For more reviews/reveals/giveaways visit:

4 Chasing the “Buzz” StarsHard Beat is a standalone and is part of the Driven series. This one is definitely my favorite! For super fans, you will be happily shocked with the direction the author went with this one. Tanner is a journalist. He goes to war-torn countries and reports in extreme conditions. Tanner is dealing with some past pains and you feel for him. I love Tanner and the complex layers Bromberg created for his character. Tanner’s troubling past reflects how he currently sees life. He chases the buzz and thrives off in catching the latest story. He pushes people away, drowns in work and doesn’t want any romantic relationships. BJ / Beaux is the newest photographer and has caught Tanner’s eye. BJ and Tanner have steamy chemistry and the love / hate relationship is addictive to read. BJ loves taking photos, but as she gets in Tanner’s way, Tanner doesn’t hold back his feelings or dominating personality.Bromberg has a way in creating super charge tension between the two main characters and it just gets you sucked into the story. As BJ tries to get Tanner to tone down his alpha male tendencies, he realizes he’s not the only one holding secrets. I loved reading Tanner and his issues, I really enjoyed watching him grow from a brute to something more with BJ. I also enjoyed reading about BJ and what her story is. Like, where did she come from and why is she so private towards Tanner? The thing that really worked for me in Hard Beat was the setting. I really enjoyed the pace and that the setting was in another country. I liked that Tanner and BJ were kind of forced to eat, sleep and breathe together. It made everything just more potent. “There’s something between us. You can’t deny that, Tanner – a blind man would be able to sense it… You’re so quick to accuse me of playing games, yet you’re calling more shots than a bartender”Bromberg is a descriptive writer and Hard Beat is suspenseful, steamy, action pack, full of surprises and a little different from the previous books. If you are a fan of the series, you will not be disappointed. LIVE on AMAZON!I am sure this is hard for everyone to believe, but this is my first book by K. Bromberg. So that answers the question of whether or not it can be read as a standalone. HOWEVER, after reading HardBeat I am kicking myself for not reading her books sooner. Hard Beat is told from Tanner Thomas’s point of view. I love books told from a male point of view, when well executed and this one definitely was. It was fun being in a man’s head and not knowing all the secrets and intentions of the heroine. Tanner Thomas is a reporter who just lost his best friend and photographer. After months of feeling like half the man he was before he begs to go back to the Middle East and begin reporting again. Beaux Croslyn is a rookie photographer hired to work with Tanner. She arrives ready to prove herself, but ends up setting herself up for trouble. She doesn’t intend to sleep with her knew coworker, but once it happens there is no going back. She is attracted to him and wants more, even though she knows it can’t end well. These two together is like watching a tennis match, there is bickering and a lot of back and forth, but I was rooting for them the wholetime. This isn’t your typical romance, don’t get me wrong I was completely into their love story and seeing them fall for each other. But I absolutely couldn’t put down the story because of the mystery and questions I had looming in my mind as I read. Then as things unfolded I felt my heart stop and at that point I knew I wouldn’t be putting this story down until I finished. Hard Beat is a fast paced and sexy read, but I am not even kidding when I tell you the suspense side of the story had me completely messed up. I am so impressed with Bromberg’s ability to write a love story that is swoon worthy, but also so suspenseful I was dying for more. As I said I am 100% sold on this series and cannot wait to read more! ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.

Okidoki, do we all remember Rylee Donovan's brother Tanner?Hm, I kinda didn't - but that's ok - I suffer from #BooksAlzheimers ☺ But I went back into the first #Driven books and typed Tanner into the search field ☺ Found him!!! And remembered him too!!!This is his story! And with this story, Ms Bromberg takes us on a bit of a Romantic Suspense trip for the first time. Also a first, the story is told from the male POV.Tanner is working as a journalist - which in his case means, that he travels to dangerous places all over the world to bring the news to us. Working the Hard Beat. A foreign war correspondent. Dangerous jobs in dangerous places. That's where his ex-girlfriend and later best friend Stella died a few months ago.And after he was kept home by his boss for a few months, he's finally back in the middle east. But now that his photographer Stella isn't there anymore, he needs a new one.Enter Beaux.Or BJ as she prefers to be called. She's his new photog. A Rookie! They sent him a rookie to babysit. And a girl too! He knows firsthand how dangerous it is where he works. But now she's here and she's smoking hot!And he hates her.But he wants her.But he still hates her.... ☺☺☺And she hates him too - but she wants him too - and she respects him, well, his work. But she has secrets - we don't know what she's hiding, but Tanner knows that there's something....Secrets, lust and a dangerous location....Let the fun times begin!!!!!WHAT WiLL HAPPEN WiTH TANNER & BEAUX???WiLL THEY GET THEiR HEA ???WiLL EVERYBODY DiE???WiLL THERE BE A CLiFFHANGER??? NOPE..... I'm not telling you ☺OK, nooo there won't be a Cliffy of course ☺_____________________________I REALLY LOVED THE BOOK!We finally got another Bromberg!!!And this time it's something a bit different. We're not in Kansas, uhm, California anymore! We're in Romantic Suspense Country ☺But the love-story is just as amazing as the first 6 #Driven love-stories.The way Tanner and BJ pretend to hate each other. Or not pretend ...idiots. ☺It's adorable to watch... to wait how and when they will finally realize that there are feelings involved - or getting involved. And we're always hoping that whatever secrets she's keeping, won't kill or destroy anything.Hot journalist???? Yes please!!!Strong, smart, talented, strong, but also vulnerable heroine!Funny scenes, romantic scenes, sexy scenes, suspensy scenes, mystery!!!Such an amazing book!I loved every second of it.And especially those little appearances of Colton and Rylee☺☺☺☺ Dawson and I even cried a bit here and there...Were there some things I didn't like? Hm - I loved the book - and especially Tanner - but the first 65% of the story were a bit slow. Nothing much happened, we're just in this hotel, have some sex, but nothing happens. But then everything happens. ☺To be honest - this was the first book, where I didn't like the heroine at all. In most books, the heroine is my least favorite person.....but I don't hate her. But here .. no idea why exactly, but I didn't like her. I felt she didn't deserve to get Tanner. There were tiny glimpses of the real BJ here and there, when she was laughing, but most of the time - in the first 80% of the book, I didn't like her. But still....HARD BEAT was an amazingly sexy & adorable & suspensy & mysterious romance! You will soooo want your own sexy foreign war correspondent after reading it!And now Ms. Bromberg - HURRY with the next book!!!!

Bromberg is the Master of Angst and she once again earns her title. Speaking of titles, this one is perfection. There’s a hard beating of hearts as Tanner and Beaux ache to be something that may be a fantasy, the hard beating of blood in their veins as they take each other for the first, the second first, and then maybe the last time, and the hard beating of my head against the wall as truths were uncovered, secrets revealed, and careers were put on the line. This is angst-ridden, kindle-gripping, scream-inducing deliciousness. Kristy takes you to your breaking point…and just when you think you can’t handle any more, she gives you more. This story is told in Tanner’s point of view, and I LOVED being inside his head. I would have also loved his head to be inside of…*cough* ok. um. yes. back to the review.Needless to say, Tanner is a sexy beast. If you follow K. Bromberg’s books, you know him as Rylee’s brother (if you don’t follow her books, you need to…like yesterday). He’s the voice of logic, the protective older brother, and one hell of a journalist. He just lost his partner and best friend, Stella, due to the conflict and his job, and those protective instincts flare up to full force once he meets BJ Crosyln, his new photographer and partner. The problem is that he immediately doesn’t like her. He likes her beauty, he likes her body, he likes her fiery spirit, but yet, there’s just something about her he doesn’t trust. His mind fails to mention that to his dick and a serious conflict arises causing sudden bursts of angry shouting interspersed with clashing tongues and teeth. Beaux is a more than willing participant, but is equally burdened by an instant lust/hate relationship she finds with Tanner. If you love a good hate fucking, Bromberg delivers fantastic hate fucking. I’ve never wanted to have make up sex more in my life. There are so many secrets being kept that as one falls to the ground, the others start to follow like dominos until Tanner’s heart is left in dire state of emergency. Hit after hit keeps coming, leaving chaos, disaster and maybe….just maybe…a little hope?Bromberg writes fantastically, as per usual, and weaves a complicated story with ease. Hard Beat is one hell of a ride and an explosion of intense desires, waring needs, gut wrenching emotion and sweet relief. Insert book hangover here. 5 stars. #MustRead.[I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review]This review looks prettier on my blog:

For those trying to remember if we’ve met a Tanner before, he’s Riley’s brother. I know with so many characters to remember, a lot can be lost – and for me it personally drives me crazy when my mind just can’t make that connection from the start. So there. That’s who Tanner Thomas is.After a tragic loss, Tanner is struggling to stay still. Needing the chase of a story – the danger that lurks in the sand of the Middle East. A challenge, something that sets his blood on fire. But what Tanner gets is the sassy and unpredictable Beaux Croslyn instead. With him there to chase the story and her to document it through the lens of her camera, things shouldn’t get too complicated, right?A sort of enemies to lovers tale – Hard Beat gives us two very stubborn characters, one hiding secrets and other living if fear of the past repeating itself. As Beaux and Tanner work side by side, fight like cats and dogs, their physical attraction explodes. When I first started Driven I never expected I would find myself still in deep with this series years later. Loving the cast of characters, loving seeing the glimpses of Colton and Riley in the pages of the story of their friends & family. Hard Beat is a bit unlike the prior books, the characters mindsets are a bit different and given the nature of the plot, the story is far more complex. I found myself trying to figure out Beaux’s secrets with every turn of the page. I had a few ideas of what was going on and although some were way off, I found myself figuring things out a bit before we get to the end.Hard Beat hovers between a 4 and a 5 star read for me. It is hard not to compare every book to Driven and every hero to Colton though. But I loved the dynamic of these two. I am a huge fan of love/hate relationships in stories, especially when the characters don’t lie to themselves about their growing attraction. Both Tanner and Beaux might have fought their feelings when it came to one another, but inside their own heads, they remain honest. I think that is an aspect that some authors don’t always deliver – which can make it harder for me as a reader to really like the characters. Another fantastic story by Mrs. Bromberg though. I am dying to get Aced early next year and excited to see what she has in store for us when she retires the Driven Series. If you are already a fan, no doubt you’ll be reading this – for those who may be new to her books, this can be read as a stand-alone novel.

4.5 - 5 Thrilling Stars!!HARD BEAT is an exciting and sensual story, set among the suspenseful world of foreign jounalists. Tanner and Beaux's rocky story is sure to please fans of K. Bromberg and marks an impressive launch into romantic suspense!!I loved this very adult, very sexy story. Ms. Bromberg has a very special place in my heart and I treasure each and every word she writes. Her characters feel very real to me, I connect with them and that emotional connection makes the difference between a good book and a great book. HARD BEAT is another unforgettable entry in the Driven world, but it can absolutely be read as a standalone book in case you have not had the pleasure of reading the earlier books.I loved Tanner from his brief appearance as Rylee's brother in the earlier books. He intrigued me, no doubt, so I was beyond thrilled when I heard he was getting his own book! And he is every bit the Alpha hero that I knew he would be! And brilliant, ambitious...I expect nothing less from perfection in a K. Bromberg heroine and the author does not disappoint. The chemistry between the main characters was palpable, and their scenes together, perfection.“She’s my little piece of Heaven in this land full of Hell.”This book is filled with twists, turns, romance, heart-stopping action, and a story that could be literally lifted from current events. Tanner and Beaux are everything I come to expect from Ms. Bromberg's characters. Without a doubt, HARD BEAT cements Ms. Bromberg's rightfully-deserved best-selling status and I cannot wait for what she has in store next.Favorite quote:“I crush my lips to hers. Savoring her taste. Goddamn it. It’s everything I don’t want but crave all the same because it tempts me and calls on me to have more.”(ARC provided by the publisher in return for an honest review.)

"Sometimes what is right isn't always what's needed. Sometimes what's needed isn't always wanted. And sometimes you just have to live in the moment, take what's given, and sort out the consequences later."One thing that I've learned from reading K. Bromberg's books is that once you read them, you are hooked. You are so knee-deep in Bromberg's greatness and writing it is impossible to come out.Bromberg's story and plot and the way she delivers angst filled books is nothing short of amazing. The book titles... They sum up all of her to stories to perfection. If you want to know what the book is about or how you are going to feel while reading that book, just go over the title. Trust me, they speak for themselves.Hard Beatbrims with so much angst, it will make you grip your kindle/book so hard, you wouldn't want to let it go until finished. It will throw plot twist after plot twist and you will be able to do nothing but sit back and shout: WTF?! WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?!THAT'S NOT REAL!! THAT KIND OF STUFF JUST DOESN'T HAPPEN!! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?! HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO US?! HOW COULD YOU?!! Yeah, my feeling were all over the place in the most amazing way possible. This book literally takes you to your breaking point and when you think nothing can bad can happen or there is no scope for anything going wrong anymore, Bromberg throws one blow after the other leaving you reeling and breathless in its wake that it will leave you wanting more. What's refreshing in about this book is that it is a first person narrative completely from Tanner's point of view. And you what? I LOVED IT! I loved being inside a male characters head throughout the book without any female perspective. And this! This is what made the book all the more engaging and interesting and mysterious.Tanner... Mmm, he is sexy as hell and a complete walking contradiction. He is a complete alpha, protective, possessive and a whole lotta amazing. He has this amazingly sweet, softer, loving side to him, you won't be able to stop yourself from falling head-over-heels for him. If you've read theDriven Series (Driven, Fueled and Crashed), you know that Tanner is Rylee's older brother. And if you haven't read the series then shame on you! What are you waiting for? Go grab them now! He is an amazing son, the voice of reason in the messed up world, a loving protective brother and a top-notch journalist. He returns to the Middle East, to get back to his reporting gig after losing his best friend of 10 years, Stella in an open fire. Those feeling and guilt that he was living with flared into over-protective beast mode when he met BJ Croslyn. One night with her was supposed to be a temporary fix for Tanner. But everything goes haywire when Tanner finds out the 'BJ' is in fact his new photographer and parter, Beaux Croslyn. The chemistry that burns between the two will fire up your Kindle with all the heat and passion. Midst the harsh brash and dangerous world, Tanner and Beaux become each others source of comfort. A shooting that brings color to their never-ending darkness. "A false hope is the worst of all kind." Hard Beatspins your emotions like none other. Anger, sadness, happiness, passion, frustration but most of all Hope. Hope for two people who have gone through so much, yet never crumbled down under the weight.Hope for something more.Hope for something new.Hope for something safe.Hope for a havenHope for love. Aonce-in-a-lifetimelove.The writing so amazing and in detail, I could easily picture everything in my head like a movie.. And Oh! What a spectacular movie it was. Every nuance, every simple character quirk, every emotion, every situation, every feeling...This book is yet another amazing book in Bromberg's transcript. She weaved a complicated story with such ease and so many beautifully poignant moments and dialogues. It's one hell of a ride! One that you definitely need to take, sit back and enjoy at its fullest. 5 'Hard Beating, Bubble' Stars! ★ Buy Hard Beat (Kindle)★ Buy Hard Beat (Paperback)_________________________For more reviews and recommendations:✦ Facebook Page ✦ Main Blog ✦ Twitter

Hard Beat grabs ahold of your heart and doesn't let go until the very last word. Tanner Thomas is a foreign war correspondent for a major network. He’s lived on the edge of the cliff—thriving on the energy and adrenaline from the rush of breaking the story. But after a recent tragedy, Tanner’s trying to find his center, his place in the world and to move forward even though he's haunted by his past. Then, he meets Beaux, and his world turns on its axis. Beaux Croslin is the new photojournalist assigned to Tanner. She’s not only absolutely stunning, she’s an extremely talented photographer. As Beaux and Tanner get closer, the sparks fly—burning up the sheets. Beaux’s unwillingness to talk about herself or her past, and Tanner’s inability to let secrets lie, puts them both in danger. And with Tanner’s tenacity, he’s determined to find out if what they had in the desert is real or just circumstantial.Hot, sexy, happy, sad, this standalone, though part of the Driven series, ticks off all the boxes. Ms. Bromberg’s ability to write such well-developed characters that immediately lure the reader into their world is phenomenal. Beaux and Tanner were amazing, heartbreaking, drool worthy for their friendship and love for each other. Tanner. Damn. I loved his vulnerability and his chivalrous nature—wanting to take the blame when there was no true blame to be had. And Beaux was pretty damn kick ass too. I. Loved. Every. Word. ~ Missy, 5 stars (really more like 500)~~~Holy hell! This story ripped my heart out! It had my glued to my seat until the very last page. Tanner Thomas, Rylee’s brother, is a foreign correspondent/journalist. He has been in the Middle East for the last ten years, off and on, and is very good at his job. He is constantly in dangerous situations and loves the buzz and adrenaline he gets. He usually has a photographer with him, but due to unforeseen circumstances, his partner, Stella, is no longer with him. Enter Beaux ‘BJ’ Croslyn. She is a rookie and Tanner’s new photographer. The two have an instant connection and are constantly pushing each other’s buttons. “She’s such a contradiction. Elegant with the mouth of a trucker and a body made for sin. No wonder I’m intrigued and pissed simultaneously.”The connection between the two is magnetic. It takes them time to finally give in to their attraction, but when they do it is hot. “I crush my lips to hers. Savoring her taste. Goddamn it. It’s everything I don’t want but crave all the same because it tempts me and calls on me to have more.”This story had so many twists and turns that I did not expect. I loved how Beaux and Tanner were constantly pushing and pulling against their attraction. It was sexy, sad, emotional, and full of drama. “She’s my little piece of Heaven in this land full of Hell.”K. Bromberg’s writing is addictive and sucks you in from the very beginning. It grabs you like nothing else and takes your heart for the entire wild ride. This was another fantastic novel and I loved that we got to see some of Colton and Rylee too! ~ Tiffany, 4.5 stars

Hard Beat by Kristy Bromberg3 stars“Whoever said love is like war, easy to begin but hard to end, knew exactly what he was talking about.”I know, I know, I am probably going to be in the minority with this one but yes…I, a K Bromberg lover have given this book a three. Three is I liked it though, so don’t get me wrong, I just didn’t love this one like I normally do a K Bromberg read.Tanner is Rylee’s brother and he has appeared a few times throughout the Driven series. Tanner is a war correspondent for a high profile media station and is at the top of his field. He had recently been on leave as his photographer had been killed in action, a photographer that was an ex-lover and had been a best friend for years. Her loss and his sense of guilt in not being able to protect and save her had been eating him up inside, but he was now deemed ready to get back on the “hard beat” and he couldn’t wait. He thrived on the adrenaline rush and he just needed to get back on the horse, even if just for his sanity.“My life is transient at best and a mind fuck at its worst.”Beaux or BJ was a photographer and she had been freelancing in the war zones when she landed the job as Tanner’s new sidekick. Beaux was kick ass and head strong and when two people with similar character traits get together you just knew that sparks were going to fly…in more ways than one.You immediately got that sense of a love/hate relationship. Both of these characters were economical with sharing their pasts and both kept their cards close to their chests, but when one depends on the other you were willing them to open up to each other so that they could build that level of trust between them. Trust was an important issue with these two, with their lives on the line every time they left the hotel, you needed to be able to trust the other, to heed the warnings and toe the line…something that Beaux didn’t seem willing to do.“Be careful whom you trust – the devil was once an angel, you know.”I felt Tanner’s frustration, I felt his guilt and I felt the war going on his head, but I never felt that character connection between them. Whether it was because there were so many secrets and they never really opened up to one another I don’t know, but for me, this always felt about lust and a convenience as opposed to a hot love affair. This really killed me, because I am an emotional reader and I need that connection to believe in the characters that I am reading about, something that for me, K Bromberg always nails.“…if you can look into someone’s eyes and see tomorrow, then you’ve found your forever.”The first seventy percent of this book, for me, was really slow and I have to be honest and say I struggled to stay engaged with the story and if it had been any other author I would have DNF’d. I have never had this happen on a K Bromberg read before. However, it really begins to pick up in the last thirty percent and this is where I really had to keep reading. The way the story went was totally unexpected but it is here that I wished it was fleshed out more. This is where I needed more and the last part of the story was over in a flash. This, for me, was more romantic suspense and is a switch of genres for K Bromberg. While the plot was clever and as I said, I never saw the ending coming, for me, it needed that excitement in the first seventy percent too. The scene setting was faultless as was the technical writing and K Bromberg really nailed the male point of view, but I just needed that little bit more and sometimes a little less…a contradiction I know, but personally I feel the flow of the book would have benefited.“My little piece of Heaven after going through so much hell.”As I have said, this is just my opinion, we all read differently so what may not work for me, may work for you.

Hard Beat- 4.75 Stars This is my fist book by K. Bromberg and I will definitely be reading more! While there is a tie to her Driven series, this is really a standalone. The story is sexy, intense, complex, and captivating. Personally, I am a huge fan of books narrated in the male POV, so I really enjoyed that aspect in this book. Tanner dedicated, smart, tough, and sexy as hell. However, he’s also a huge contradiction. His first instinct is to love, ruled by his heart. However, after he loses some one special, he builds a wall around his heart and becomes cynical and paranoid. What I found most interesting though, was watching him struggle against that natural instinct. The wall is really a figment of his imagination, in reality his heart is still holding court. Beaux is an enigma. Where Tanner’s contradiction is due to his own internal battle, Beaux’s character was a bit inconsistent. Most of the time, she’s tough as nails, then Tanner hurts her feelings and makes her cry right in front of him. Posessing that vulnerability isn’t what doesn’t jive, it’s the fact that she lets Tanner see it so easily. Despite that rough spot in her character, she is still engaging and intriguing. She definitely has many secrets, but at the same time, she leaves her heart open and let’s Tanner take it. She’s witty, smart, and capable, someone I could see myself liking if I met her in real life. I knew a twist was coming, and I had some suspicions that were confirmed. However the author threw in a few more that I never saw coming. I had to stop and wonder if there would really be an HEA!The book is fairly fast paced, and I loved the plot and characters. It seemed well researched, never leaving me feeling as though the story was fake. I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait to read more by this author!

**Hard Beat generously provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.**3 "It's been crazy." StarsHaving first met Tanner Thomas, our hero, in the Driven trilogy I was excited to read his story. The glimpses and side notes we learn about Rylee's brother were quite intriguing. In Hard Beat, Tanner tells us his story from his point of view. Full of secrecy and mystery the story of Tanner and Beaux zigzags with angst. Their connection happened almost immediately although Tanner did his best to fight it. He's grappling with demons from his past and Beaux is seemingly running from something. There were several moments between the two when they let their guards down that were very touching making their connection palpable. Being that the story was told entirely from Tanner's point of view, I thought were a few spots where the his thoughts were very back and forth for a man. But also some instances where his analyzing helped me understand a little more about Beaux. And while I never guessed the plot twist, I thought it was a very intriguing choice. The writing of Bromberg gets very detailed for me. I found myself getting a little bored in some of the details. But what I find so interesting is when I feel like I'm start to lose interest Bromberg supplies another hook and I'm right back invested in the love story of the characters. Hard Beat wasn't epic for me nor did I not like it, it just fell into my category of OK reads. For those readers who love angst ridden stories I definitely recommend this for you. For fans of the previously published Driven trilogy - you can expect the same angst factors of Bromberg's characters getting together but it's much different in presentation from the story of Colton and Rylee.

Hard Beat had a different feel to it than the other books in the series. This story didn’t disappoint. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It is such a heartbreaking but yet amazingly beautiful story.Whoever said love is like war, easy to begin but hard to end, knew exactly what he was talking about.

I love me a K. Bromberg book and Hard Beat is the seventh novel in the Driven Series, I believe, and I was really looking forward to it. The synopsis sounded very intriguing and K. Bromberg’s books are always loaded with plenty of heart thumping angst. Her books are also always riddled with ridiculously sexy moments and extremely alpha men and all of these things prove to be a heady combination making for my ultimate romance read.“We’re breaking the bed.”Hard Beat was definitely worth the read. This is Tanner’s story (Riley’s brother) and he is a hard beat reporter that reports on very hard-hitting subjects which often finds him in areas riddled with war and terrorism which is where he lost his former lover, best friend and parter photographer. He has been blaming himself since her death and now he is back at work in another situation and he has been given a new photographer and this one happens to be sexy as sin Beaux. Beaux is extremely private and hardheaded and Tanner feels the need to protect her and keep her. This makes for an interesting story as Tanner is super alpha and Beaux is extremely independent. I love the back and forth of Tanner’s feelings; him wanting her and not wanting her, him wanting to protect her but also not wanting to be in that position again after his best friends death. These two characters have an explosive kind of chemistry and it was awesome watching it all unfold.‘I want you so goddamn bad right now that the desire is so sharp, it’s painful.’I am glad I gave this one a shot. I do wish there had been more dialogue. I felt there was a lot of internal feelings and dialogue but not enough actual conversation of my liking. Tanner was likable and alpha enough and Beaux is definitely a heroine I can get behind. But I think I will always like the original books in the Driven Series better. Guess I will just always be Colton girl but I did really enjoy this one.~Amie

#onceinalifetimeDon't BOO me, but this was my first K. Bromberg read. Yes, I've been hearing all the hype about her Driven series. All my friends have been yelling at me to catch up. While the series has been on my TBR, I just haven't had time to read them. So, when I learned that this book could be read as a standalone, I was very excited to jump in. And can I just say, after hearing the name Colton and seeing the sexy Stuart Reardon on a cover, I will be going back to read the others, I promise.I honestly had no idea what to expect when I started reading Hard Beat since I was new to the author and the series. I didn't know if it was the drama or the smexy that made them so popular. Now that I've gone to hell and back with Tanner & Beaux, I can say it's both. I was drawn into the excitement of the story that Tanner was chasing. I was curious about the pain he was hiding from, needing to know what had happened. I was instantly intrigued by the chemistry I felt between Tanner & BJ when they first saw each other. The sparks were flying before they ever said a word. The story is told from Tanner's POV which was very interesting, and very sexy. I knew how smart he was as he used his contacts to get exclusive coverage of newsworthy events, before all the others figured out where the action was. I also got the x-rated mental monologue of what he wanted to do to his new photographer. You know, the one that he didn't want. The beautiful Rookie that infuriated him with her smartass remarks and her stubborn refusal to submit to his bossy assholish behavior.BJ to acquaintances, and Beaux to her friends, kept Tanner on his toes. She didn't back down when he pushed. Well, at least not until he was pushing her up against a wall or over a bed. She kinda liked his bossy when it was in the bedroom. Surely it was just the extended periods of time they were forced to spend together. The hours upon hours they had to wait for that big story to happen. You can only spend so much time playing pool and scrabble, right? She might share her body, but never her secrets. He might know every inch of her body, but he didn't know anything about her past. And dammit' neither did I! Since I was in his head and not hers, I knew his feelings, but not hers. I was just as curious as he was. Where was she sneaking off to? Who was she seeing? Who was she talking to on the phone? Could she be trusted? Did she care for him, or was she just using him to further her career? Could he really have feelings for her if he didn't really know her? What was she hiding?Yup, the author took me on a rollercoaster ride. She kept me leaning forward, watching for the next drop-off, holding my breath as I waited for it to happen. I knew it was coming, I just didn't know what IT was. I knew it would be newsworthy, but I didn't know if it would be good or bad news. It was so fun to anticipate and guess. It was so frustrating to wait and wonder. It was so HOT as I melted into a puddle on the rooftop. It was soooo good, I didn't want it to end. I'm convinced, y'all can move on to the next uninformed reader who hasn't been introduced to the awesomeness of K. Bromberg, your work is done here. I'm a fan.

So everyone knows how much us Redheads LOVE K. Bromberg for giving us Colton, but this...I am finding it hard to put this into words.I will admit it took me a while to get into Hard Beat, but once I did I could not put it down, the twists and turns I didn't see coming at all, the tears I shed MULTIPLE times were both sad and happy. This book was so much more than I expected, and yet everything I would expect from Kristy, I bow down to you all mighty writer for pulling this one off. The way you told this story had me visualizing everything vividly, like I was right there with them. Definitely 5 stars from this Redhead.

    K. Bromberg is on my one-click list, actually she's at the top of said list! Hard Beat is the seventh installment in the Driven series and I don't know how it's possible but these books are getting sexier, more unique and truly flawless. So, sit down and get ready to go thru a story that will keep you pinned to your chair until the final page.Hard Beat is told in Tanner's perspective, which totally worked. He's dealing with grief that continues to haunt him but once his path crosses with his new photographer Beaux, their instant chemistry puts Tanner on edge bringing out his confusion and fear's.As the story unfolds, I just knew something big was coming,I could NOT put my finger on it and when everything comes to light...Holy s*!t! I was shocked, speechless (probably looked like a damn fish out of water)! So, what can I say? Besides the fact you need to read this book, you will love every crazy twist and turn, you will love every single moment spent in Tanner's company, you will love every hot sex scene, you will simply love the mastermind that is K. Bromberg!

Wow... K. Bromberg has outdone herself! This is completely original and fresh and just soooooo incredible, I don't even know where to start! To be honest I went into this story blind, and by the title I thought it would be about Music.Boy, was I wrong! lol This is a very captivating story about journalism and photography.About a News reporter and His new Photographer...not just any news reporter, but a reporter that goes down into the trenches, and reports on the front lines in very world torn countries, in extremely dangerous and volatile situations. There are so many parts of this story that has you on edge... and really opens your eyes to the dangers in the world, and the people who choose to face them head on!In the midst of all this dangerous chaos, K. Bromberg gives us a very deep character in Tanner Thomas. He is a top reporter who is suffering the loss of his best friend and previous photgrapher, Stella. On top of that, his boss's are unsure of sending him out in the battlefield again so soon.Add in having to break in a new photographer who happens to be another woman, not just any woman, but a beautiful woman, whom he meets his first night back.. and Damn.. that is one hell of a HOT meeting.. then next morning.. BAM! She turns out to be his new partner..Beaux Croslyn is a mysterious and captivating woman who has secrets beyond your imagination. And as K. Bromberg weaves her magic storytelling web, well you become so ensnared that you will not know which way is up! lol Do yourself a favor and dive in to this amazing story!

Hard Beat was beyond amazing. Kristy kept saying this book would be different but I couldn't think how she would change it up from a writing style that I LOVED SO MUCH. But this book was off the chart. The intensity, the on the edge of your seat feelings, the who did who, who is who, who is hiding something, who can be trusted, the mystery, the angst. Yeah, the sex was good too but that was just a cherry on top of the banana split. While reading the Paperback ARC I had won, I messaged her and said "If you have more of these stories, this type of writing, please please #WriteKristyWrite". I was trying to think who i could compare this writing to, a mystery suspense thrill writer, then the light went on and I knew this was of John Grisham/Tom Clancy caliber. I love and own many of those books. This book could truly be a movie. There was a point where she gutted me and I thought HOLY SH!T, KB has finally written a book without a HEA. The question is...."Did she or didn't she?" She made my heart do flips along w tears. My heart palpated and my anger was through the roof. It was all oh so worth it!!YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!! Whether it is your first K. Bromberg read or your 9th....Kristy, has done it yet again! BRAVO!!! 500 STARS #TannerAndBeaux #LOVELOVELOVE
