This was a fairly entertaining short story that is a follow up to Once Upon a Dragon. I did not read the first story and think that I may have enjoyed this book more if I had. The first line in the book is “Once upon a time, there was a King that needed his ass fucked.” I have to say that sentence alone tickled the hell out me and my perverted little mind. Flair wants nothing more than to have a man who isn’t afraid to fuck him. When his crazy father was King he implemented a rule that every servant must submit his ass to the King every time they were in his presence just in case the King had an urge to fuck them. Now every time he roams the halls of the castle there is one or more servants with their asses in the air for him. He has had lovers but not one of them was willing to give the top him in fear of future retaliation for making the King submit. Flair wants nothing more than to submit to a man and the more well endowed the better. In order to have the ruling regarding his servants reversed, the council insists that the King pick a mate. He agrees with one caveat, his intended mate must have a huge cock.Saber is a quiet, simple farmer who loves his life even though it tends to get lonely. Saber’s brother, Enrique, mated with the King’s brother, Ember, in the first story. Apparently there was a curse placed on the entire family that could only be lifted by Enrique finding his mate and if it didn’t happen then Enrique would be forced to mate with the evil wizard. Unfortunately when the wizard came to collect Enrique, Ember ate him while in dragon form. The family of the wizard is petitioning for punishment so all three men travel back to the Kingdom to see the King. With a little interference by his fairy godmother, Saber finds himself standing in line of naked men awaiting the inspection of the King. When the King first lays eyes on Saber and his huge cock, he knows that he has finally found his mate. Flair is thrilled when he realizes that Saber has no trouble making him submit and Flair finally gets a man who wants nothing more than to top him. The King has the curse lifted from Saber’s family and the men live happily ever after.

I like that his aide is named Roar and that he roars Roar's name. "ROAR!" :D'Tis beautiful, is what it is.Umm...a weird little piece of miscellany.It...*shrug.It exists? It's weird and rushed and I wanted more of the story before it rushed off to the king-fucking, and it ends abruptly, but it's pulp so I'm rating it accordingly and shit, you know.

This review can be found at Brief Encounters ReviewsThis is a cute story set in the fae world of the Seelie and Unseelie. I’m not familiar with the mythology, but in this case, the gist of it is the Unseelie live in winter, it’s dark, cold, the castle is black marble and they are rough and tough pranksters. They take great delight in making the Seelie, who live in summer and are light and happy, miserable with their tricks, like turning the beach into a skating rink.Puck is a half-ling, but spends his time with Unseelie, of whom the King is his best friend. As they are bored, Puck is tasked to go and find two changelings, one for each side as the rules say they must be even in numbers. However Puck seems to get obsessed with little blond Torque he sees while searching for candidates at the university. Before long he’s rescuing Torque and taking him, along with his brother — who appears to fit more the Unseelie mold than Torque, back to the Fae realm.I liked Torque a great deal (and the fact that is brother is called Axle is noted as being weird). He seemed like your typical submissive little twink who would not fit in, but the scene at the end with the Unseelie king had me chuckling at Torque’s chutzpah. Basically it came down to Unseelie and the creatures who abide with them, such as Banshees, are really not that bad. I especially liked the king Oberon, he seemed like a good friend and a reasonable logical guy, who liked to screw with people just to annoy them. It’s fairly light and fluffy, beyond Torque’s attack, but when you’re in the mood for some fun it was an enjoyable read. I have a feeling that perhaps Torque’s brother has a story coming, maybe with Puck’s brother who lives with the Seelie. I guess we shall have to wait and see.

I really liked this book. It is funny, a great take on fairy tales in general, and while some of the scenes are totally over the top (like the servants' behavior when the king enters a room), it fit within the weird and wonderful world the author has developed here. If you have read the free story Once Upon a Dragon, you will recognize several of the characters, and this book is a direct sequel to the events portrayed there.Flair is the king of the dragon shifters, and he is desperate to find a partner whom he can submit to in the bedroom. Multiple issues keep him busy, and he hates being king under these circumstances. The ball to find him a mate is just one more task forced on him by the council, and he isn't happy. Once he finds Saber though, everything changes.Saber is a human and has no magic at all. He and his family have found a niche in the fairy tale kingdom, but evil wizards keep threatening their family and Saber is determined to make them stop. When he meets the king, he is not what Saber expected - he is a lot more interesting. If you like naught variations on fairy tales and new takes on characters we all know from reading children's versions, if you enjoy men who don;t take themselves too seriously, and if you're looking for a read that is as funny as it is hot, then you will probably like this novella.

Dragon shape-shifter Flair Coruscate is not pleased with the court protocol, the mode of his required attire or the other court customs. As the newly crowned king, Flair is at his wits end. That is until a royal ball resulted into Flair finding his true mate. Saber is everything Flair desires and more.Once Upon a King is actually the second installment in the Ever After series. The first installment, Once Upon a Dragon is offered as a free read on the author’s website. In Once Upon a King Flair understands the demands of being king and he is considerate of all the residents of his kingdom. However, the laws are woefully outdated plus immediate changes are desperately needed. Flair wishes for a mate who will not be intimidated by his royal status, especially in the bedroom. Destiny satisfied all of Flair’s dreams; Saber is the perfect mate for Flair. Saber never imagined that his journey to seek the king’s aid would end with him being the king’s mate. Before meeting Flair, Saber’s only aspiration as a human, living in the magical kingdom, was to continue being a good farmer.Jambrea Jones has created an exceptional, as well as enjoyable, romantic comedy. I was particularly impressed with the hilarious interactions between the main and secondary characters along with the double insinuation dialogue.

Entertaining but also incredibly short, rushed and ends abruptly with a cliff-hanger. Sex is the sole theme of this story and nothing much is spoken or done besides but it's also really ridiculous which makes it all the more funny. Good for mindless reading purposes only.
