The Worry Glasses: Overcoming Anxiety Reviews
I was highly impressed with this book. As a foster parent, I deal daily with children who have various emotional problems, and anxiety is definitely a problem that is common among children who have endured any kind of trauma. Of course, anxiety can also strike children who have ideal childhoods. I happened to be a cautious, worried child growing up and often remember feeling many of the same physical and emotional symptoms that the main character of this book feels."The Worry Glasses" explains anxiety in a way that children can really understand and offers solutions that are proven and effective in combating fear and worry. The illustrations and storyline add an entertainment factor that will keep kids engaged until the very end. Towards the back of the book there is a list of anxiety relieving exercises and a list of parent tips that are invaluable resources for adults who live or work with nervous children. I would not hesitate to recommend this book to therapists, teachers, foster parents, regular parents or anyone who has a child dealing with anxiety.
This is a great book for both children and parents. The little girl, MJ, learns to how to defeat her worries with the help of a wonderful counselor named Miss Jessica. The illustrations are lovely. It also includes simple and helpful tips about how to deal with anxiety such as the balloon breath and the worry box.I won this book through a Goodreads First Reads giveaway.
I really enjoyed this book.Everyone has stress and anxiety even children. This is a fabulous book to help you and your children learn how to manage and cope with life's daily stresses. The book talks about how worrying about different situations magnifies what you're afraid of. The author compares it to putting on magnifying glasses (worry glasses) and how they make everything seem bigger than they really are.The Main character MJ is afraid of everything, from swimming in the ocean, horseback riding, and even attending a friend's party. She feels sick to her stomach and has trouble sleeping. Her parents take her to her pediatrician who recommends a counselor to help her deal with all her worries. This book is full of examples and tips on how to cope and relax when you're feeling stressed. A must have for every parent...make that everyone!
Although the ebook writing is very small, the story isexcellent! This is a great book to help with parenting skills. It assists children in coping with anger issues. It also assists youth in becoming more aware. This is very well-written.
